The Last Precinct

After her traumatic encounter with Chandonne, Dr. Kay Scarpetta is physically and emotionally battered. With the police investigating her attack, she seeks refuge with her friend Anna Zenner. However, her safety is short-lived as she learns that Anna has been summoned to testify against her in a Grand Jury investigation into Scarpetta's alleged involvement in a murder case. Feeling betrayed and knowing she can't trust anyone, Scarpetta fights to clear her name. Meanwhile, new evidence surfaces linking Chandonne to a murder in New York, but as Scarpetta works with NY prosecutor Jaime Berger, the case becomes less and less clear. She begins to question whether Chandonne is truly responsible for any of the crimes he is accused of, and sets out to find the true killer, uncovering a complex and long-standing deception along the way.
